Introduction: Community Power Group would like to introduce our 2025 intern cohort. CPG is thrilled to have four passionate interns this summer, and we look forward to seeing their valuable contributions to our team.

Kristin Leyne: Kristin is a rising senior at George Washington University, studying Political Science. Her interests lie at the intersection of politics and business. Through her past internships, she has discovered her passion for social impact work. Kristin has always been interested in the environmental sector. She chose Community Power Group to learn more about the effect of statewide policies on solar deployment. During her internship, she is excited to hone in on her project management skills and understand the process of solar development. Kristin is a valuable asset to our team.

Julia Bertele: Julia is a rising senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. She is interested in studying domestic and international policy, with plans to pursue a law degree. Outside of the classroom, Julia spends her time teaching technology lessons to senior citizens and children at various living facilities and shelters, and serves as the co-head of her school’s club: “Tech for Seniors.” Her decision to join the CPG team is rooted in her passion for improving the world through renewable energy solutions. At CPG, Julia enjoys researching environmental legislation to predict outcomes and trends in solar markets. Julia’s work will have a significant impact on CPG’s mission.

Isabel Limao: Isabel is a recent graduate of Sidwell Friends School and will be starting at Middlebury College this fall. She is passionate about tackling environmental issues, which led her to intern at CPG last summer, where she worked on identifying new sites for solar development. This summer, Isabel is researching a new project focused on oyster reef restoration in the Chesapeake Bay. She is excited to learn more about existing technologies and to learn about the process of creating a business plan, from product design to environmental regulation and marketing. We are happy to have Isabel on for another summer. We know she will do incredible work!

Trevor Minton: Trevor is a rising senior at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. He is interested in studying finance, history, or both. He heads the Asian Student Association and the Chess Club at his school. He decided to join the CPG team because he has a passion for the environment and is interested in learning more about renewable energy. He looks forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the solar energy business and the process behind creating community solar. We are thankful for Trevor joining the team and look forward to all the great work he’ll do this summer!

What They’ll Be Doing: This summer, interns will have the opportunity to understand how solar power works and how it is helping our planet, learn about the solar development life cycle, and identify suitable land for solar installations, then contact the owners, aiding in CPG’s solar deployment. CPG provides interns with the skills necessary to understand solar development at a professional level. During their time at Community Power Group, interns will become acquainted with site identification tools, such as LandVision, Helioscope, and hosting capacity maps, to further their understanding of state solar landscapes. We look forward to seeing their knowledge of the solar industry blossom.
