Last week two of the Community Power Group staff, Rohan and Amberli went out to Steger IL for a site visit and to collect soil samples.
Before any soil could be sampled, Amberli and Rohan made a pit stop at Walmart and Home Depot. After debating whether to buy pink garden trowels or serious spades, they grabbed shovels and buckets.
Equipped with the finest of shovels and soil sample bags, Amberli and Rohan took to their task with enthusiasm. They both channeled their inner archaeologist and dug as if they were about to uncover some long-lost civilization. Spoiler: no artifacts, just dirt. It’s a delicate process, after all. But between the occasional grumble about how they had to dig at least 12 inches down first Amberli and Rohan became fast friends.
After successfully collecting samples (and more dirt on their shoes than they’d like to admit), our dynamic duo hit the road back to drop off the soil samples.
In conclusion, soil sampling in Steger, IL, may not be everyone’s dream adventure, but for Amberli and Rohan, it was a day of discovery, teamwork, and a whole lot of dirt. Stay tuned for CPG’s next escapade!
